The Buffalo National River is 25 minutes south of Ozark Outlook Retreat. Several sections of the river are nearby and are easily accessible.
A float from the Harriet bridge on Hwy 14 to Rush, is one of our favorite floats. The scenery is spectacular with huge rock bluffs towering over the river, as the Buffalo shares its secrets along the way. Keep your eyes open to experience eagles flying above the river, whitetail deer grazing along the woodlands edge, beavers scurrying around, and turtles sunning themselves on logs and rocks. Buffalo Point is on the route of this float, with a large sandy beach for relaxing, having picnics, and swimming. Restrooms are also available at this point. This particular float is a half day adventure, or make it an all day trip. Enjoy!
Crooked Creek located one mile away is a beautiful secluded creek for canoeing and kayaking. The creek is rated as an excellent spot to fish for small mouth bass and a great float to get-a-way for several hours.
